How to Play Reversi / Othello Game - 2 player game or against πŸ€– Computer AI

Reversi, also known as Othello, is a classic 2 player board game. It is played on an 8x8 grid board, along with sixty-four (64) identical game pieces called disks (discs), which are light on one side and dark on the other. The game can be played between you and πŸ€– computer AI, or against another player.

The object of the game is to have the majority of disks turned to display your color when the last playable empty square is filled.

Players alternate turns as long as they can make a move and the game ends when neither player can make a move. If a player has no available moves, it becomes the opponent's turn.

How to Play Reversi:
- Dark always moves first.
- A move is made by placing a disc in a position that traps one or more of the opponent's discs between your just placed disc and an existing disc of yours.
- A disc placement may trap any number of your opponent's discs in one or more rows in any direction - horizontal, vertical, and diagonal.
- All opponent discs which are trapped are flipped.
- Discs can only be trapped as a direct result of a move and must fall in the direct line of the disc being played.
- If you can't trap and flip at least one opposing disc, you must pass your turn.
- Once a disc has been placed on a square, it can never be moved to another square.
- The player with the most discs of their color wins the game.

Game Features:
- User friendly interface
- Play against πŸ€– Computer AI or as 2 player
- 3 difficulty levels
- Designed for Phone, Tablet, PC & Mac

Reversi / Othello Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question: How do you win Reversi?
Answer: The basic moves of Reversi are simple. Surround your opponent's discs with yours, in a vertical, horizontal, and/or diagonal direction, and you'll capture them and "reverse" them to yours. Every move you make must capture at least one opponent disc. If it doesn't, you can't place your disc in that square. A general rule for success is to place your discs where you can capture the most of your opponent's discs each turn.

Question: How do you play Reversi?
Answer: Each reversi piece has a dark side and a light side. On your turn, you place one piece on the board with your color facing up. You must place the piece so that an opponent's piece, or a row of opponent's pieces, is trapped by your pieces.

Question: What is the objective of Reversi?
The objective of the game is to capture and flip as many of the opponent discs while blocking your opponent from flipping your discs so that you have the most discs upright on the board in your color at the end of the game.

Question: How many squares does an Othello board have?
Answer: 64 squares.  The game of Othello takes place on a board with 64 squares. We refer to these squares by a coordinate system : the rows are numbered from top to bottom by 1 to 8 ; the columns are indicated from left to right by 'a' to 'h'.
